When his friend Brandon asks why Derek lives with his grandparents and not his mom, Derek explains that she is away in the army. Although Derek misses his mom a lot, he proudly tells Brandon about all the exciting things she does at her job. Brandon is impressed.

Best of all, she gets to name a newborn baby horse. With great anticipation, she thinks about riding Spotty when they are both older.

After Victor repeats and repeats an initially impressive magic trick, his family tires of his antics until, as his grand finale, he makes himself disappear, leaving everyone to laugh at his cleverness.
