Excited about possibly winning a reading contest, the King School Kids read lots of books, talk about their favorites, and eventually win the grand prize: a classroom pajama party. There, Mrs. Hall reads students her favorite book when she was in the first grade; the children marvel at the thought that their teacher was actually once their age!

With Grandpa's help, Derek makes himself a terrific robot costume to wear to school for Halloween. He's excited about being the only robot in class until—much to his surprise and amusement—he discovers that Mrs. Hall is dressed as a robot, too.

Inspired by a trip to the zoo, where they learn about hibernating animals, Kendra and her little sister Layla pretend to hibernate, too. After filling up with peanut butter sandwiches, fruit, and milk, they decide to cut short their hibernation. Why? They don't want to pass up a chance to go to the park with Dad.

Victor pesters his older sister, Isabel, and her friends when they're trying to have fun. When Isabel calls him a brat, Victor is hurt and angry and pledges never to play with her again. But as Mom predicts, by the next day, Victor and Isabel get along just fine.
